Bichette Says Ultimate Goal Is To Team Up With Guerrero Blue Jays Long Term

Bichette says ‘ultimate goal’ is to team up with Guerrero, Blue Jays long-term

Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette says he wants to stay in Toronto long-term and play with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for many years to come.

“I think that’s the ultimate goal, is to be here long term and play with Vladdy for a long time,” Bichette said in an interview with Sportsnet’s Hazel Mae. “I think we can do something special here.”

Bichette and Guerrero are two of the most exciting young players in baseball.

Bichette, 23, is a two-time All-Star and one of the best shortstops in the game. Guerrero, 23, is a one-time All-Star and one of the best hitters in the game.

The two players have been close friends since they were children.

They played on the same team in the Dominican Republic and have been teammates on the Blue Jays since 2019.

Bichette says he and Guerrero have a special connection on and off the field.

“We have a lot of fun together,” Bichette said. “We’re always laughing and joking around. But when it’s time to work, we’re both very serious about it.”

The Blue Jays are hoping to sign Bichette to a long-term contract extension.

Bichette is eligible for arbitration after the 2023 season and will be a free agent after the 2025 season.

The Blue Jays are also hoping to sign Guerrero to a long-term contract extension.

Guerrero is eligible for arbitration after the 2024 season and will be a free agent after the 2026 season.

If the Blue Jays can sign both Bichette and Guerrero to long-term contracts, they will have one of the best young cores in baseball.

The two players are both under 25 years old and have already established themselves as some of the best players in the game.
