BC Set to Host Red Bandanna Invitational

The Red Bandanna Invitational: A Legacy of Courage and Community

Boston College is honored to host the inaugural Red Bandanna Invitational, a basketball tournament that commemorates the legacy of Welles Crowther, a 9/11 hero who saved dozens of lives.

A Symbol of Unity and Resilience

Crowther, a Boston College graduate, became known as the "Man in the Red Bandanna" after he was seen using a red bandanna to lead people to safety from the collapsing South Tower.

The Red Bandanna Invitational serves as a testament to Crowther's selfless actions and the power of unity in the face of adversity.

Tournament Details

The tournament will be held on March 12-13, 2023, at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Eight teams will participate, including Boston College, Providence College, Holy Cross, and other top programs from around the country.

In addition to the on-court action, the tournament will feature a pre-game ceremony honoring Welles Crowther and his family.

There will also be a Red Bandanna 5K run and other community events to raise funds for the Welles Crowther Red Bandanna Foundation.

Honoring a Legacy

The Red Bandanna Invitational is more than just a basketball tournament.

It is an opportunity to celebrate the life and legacy of Welles Crowther, and to inspire others to live with the same courage and compassion.

The tournament will also raise awareness for the Welles Crowther Red Bandanna Foundation, which supports organizations that provide assistance to victims of disasters and emergencies.
